Greetings Hopefully someone out there can help steer me in the right direction and provide some recommendations and assistance. I am in Melbourne Australia and I'm looking at buying what is a supposedly complete engine and trans from a bloke here who is selling the setup as an: STSV 4.4 V series supercharged performance engine. The set up is apparently complete but is missing the ECM...... No one sells anything Caddy here in Australia.


My first question is how easy is it to get an ECM for this engine and cost thereof ?

Second how can I tell exactly which engine, and from what year, it is ? What readily identifiable and accessible markings can I look for ?? ( The engine/trans is just sitting on a pallet )

Thirdly what should I be looking for as its not possible to start the engine just sitting there? Are there any know issues with this model engine

PS Thinking of putting it in a 53 Chev 3100 Pickup.

 

UPDATE. Bought an engine /trans here. Unit is complete with all ECM, TCM so no longer searching.
