I have serious problems with my 98 Eldo my Headgaskets blew and I went to find a Used Engine and The Backyard mechanic convinced me to buy a 2002 Northstar motor VIn Y from a friend of His only to find out that the Engine didn't fit so I am stuck with a good engine that no one wants to buy. Also to get a remanufactured Engine will be around $5500 I love my car but that is unreasonable you can buy a car for that price. Can Any one point me in the right direction or should I give up

 

These engines are naturally expensive. a Y engine came out of a seville a believe. with will not work as it has coil packs. I would not give up...i would find another technician who know what he is talking about. Pretty much anything 98 and down to about 97 will work in your car seville or deville or eldo, if you get an sts motor you will have a little more power as it has different cams. I put a 98 sts motor in my 97 deville. just had to move a ground and that was about it.
