Hi,

I've been searching around in AllData as well as a few other sites and have not been able to pin down this issue. We have a 98 Deville and the speedometer LED area lost the illumination. I purchased a used Instrument Panel Cluster and installed it, however after installing it, the car would not start.

The Security light comes on only for a few seconds when you first turn the key to On, but then goes off with all the others. The messages are Starting Disabled, Wait 3,2,1 minutes, Remove Key, Start Car.

I've tried the 30 minute PassKey 2 procedure but the thing that doesn't make sense is that the Security light doesn't stay on for long like all of the instructions indicate it should be. So I get the Security light on for 5 seconds when I first turn the key on, but never again until I turn it off and back on again.

I know there's some type of communication that happens between the Passkey 2 and the IPC but not sure what I can do to fix it. I'm also not sure if I put the old IPC back in if the car will still start since it's now saying disabled. I don't recall anything reading Theft on any warning message either.
