Default P0017 on 2010 CTS rwd 3.0

Dear technical experts,

I am stumped with my car. The P0017 crank-cam correlation popped up 3 weeks ago and I am unable to fix it. Cadillac dealer says I need a new crankshaft because of the reluctor is "worn". I am unable to understand that diagnosis. Apparently they took off the timing chain cover and saw the chain was good hence their conclusion. Here's all that I have done.

1. Changed intake, exhaust and crank sensor on bank 1. I reset the code but it came back on.
2. Changed int-exh vvt solenoids. Reset code but no good. I did disconnect the battery this time before I put it on.
3. Tried taking off the connectors to int-exh sensors while running but didn't see any idle change or difference in revving up.
4. The car has 182000 miles hwy mostly and has had all oil changes at the dealer's service dept.

The check engine is rock steady it used to come on and off before it failed completely. Cadillac wants $7500 to replace the crankshaft. I can't afford it and the car is not worth that much. I did top up low oil with 1 1/2 quarts of mobil-1 before the failure.

I'd appreciate any help. Since the car runs perfect I don't think it needs a new crankshaft and I fail to see how a reluctor can wear out. There's no chain on it. The only thing left is the ECM module but that's too severe to be the cause.

Thanks
Zahid
