later model N* into '94 Eldo
Hi group,..I blew the engine in my '94 OBD1 Eldo. I would like to swap in a newere "roller cam" model N*.
I've heard this can be done,..can you tell me how much is involved? Maximum performance is desired.

I have not heard of Y2K swap in to a 93-94. It may possible, the challenges will involve the unique intake manifold with a MAP sensor vs MAF sensor. The Y2K gen 2 northstar has an different EGR layout, 93-95 has ISC vs. IAC in OBII. Crank sensors are also different, but I heard there was a kit to deal with that problem. 93-99 would be the easier swap since long block is esentially the same, but if you really want the Y2K engine and have enough money I am sure it can be done

RE: later model N* into '94 Eldo
Thankyou so very much for the tech. info. So is 2000 the first year for "roller cam heads? Will "rollercam" heads fit a '94-'99 shortblock? Is a '95-'99 a direct swap in for a '94 Eldo?
Sounds like the obvious way to go is the easiest,..I was just hoping to find the newer low mileage solution..
Please advise Randall My consideration was cam damage at high RPM (I have a very heavy foot) and was considering nitrous.

Flat tappet cam heads do fine, engine will spin scary rpm with out roller rockers, maybe because there are no rocker arms at all. Find a low mileage 300hp engine of the pre Y2K era and save yourself a lot of headaches and cash.
