Default Ignition Disabled...

1996 Sedan Deville. long story... Negative terminal bolt that was installed was too long so the ground wire came loose. required jiggling to turn car back on. got used to this. then one day the same thing happened and after i tried starting the car it displayed "ignition disabled due to anti theft system remove ignition key." did NOT display 3 minute message. i have researched this on the site and noted the different listed solutions.

1. already tried cleaning key resistor. no difference
2. get new key...?
3. install resistor in line with the 2 wires in the ignition.
4. install new ignition lock cylinder...
5. take car into shop and have them install new ignition lock cylinder costing $550 that i dont have plus towing when i could do one of previous three options.

problem being i dont know how to pull the covers/panels off the area these 2 wires are in, and which area that is. or how to install a new lock cylinder. i have the online chiltons manuals but they refer to a section 8 that i dont know where it is. i am competent enough to do this myself but need a bit more help in finding/accessing the 2 wires for the ignition cylinder that i either need to clean/refasten or install the resistor on. can anyone provide more detailed instructions? especially as to how to access the wires. thanks. even better call me 9709888473

my standard advice for this that everyone ignores.

call a locksmith, explain the situation and get estimate.
my guess, $60 to $250 unless your BCM (or whatever module your car uses) got fried.
