i have a 98 deville just put a used motor in it with the computer from that motor wont start says theft deturent may not start lookd on fourm on clearing codes but makes no sense says 3 buttons to left of dash only see 2 and off button is on the left side of dash is there a way i can get this car started by my self HELP!!!

 

Why did you not use the original computer that was in the car?

 

dealership told me you have to use the pc that is mated to the motor

 

That dont make any sense to me if you have the original comp i would give that a try.

used 96 4.6 northftar out of a 96 deville 77000 miles I bought this car used from a freind for 200.00 dollars wood not start said theift may not start took it to a dealer they started the car and told me it had blowen head gaskets and its not worth fixing must of bypassed the theift system took it home the car looks like new! so i bought a used motor and installed it dealer told me to get the ecu from the orther car told me my ecu was not responding just bought it back to dealer so they can get it running and program the ecu hope everything gos well and dont cost me to much. I changed this motor in my carport !!man what a job doing it without a lift
