Default 98 deville "HARD TIME STARTING" & "KEY CYLINDER"

these two issues may be totally separate but then again they may be related so please help......

i just purchased a 98 deville with 140,000 miles........the seller only had (1) ignition key and this is what i found out when i tried to start it.......the passkey will go into the ignition and it will start the car but if you just very slightly touch the key it gives you a warning of: "theft system problem, car may not restart"......it will only say this when the car is running.........i'm reading alot from others that the key cylinder may be possibly shot or going out...........could this be possible? i know i need to purchase another ignition key as a back up to have but if the cylinder is going bad would i be better off to purchase a brand new cylinder with 2 new keys??????? if i do need to make this purchase does anyone out there know where i can buy a discounted or lower cylinder key set other than the dealership? OR since i'm not really concerned about the anti-theft system could i just bypass the system and have then be able to just put in a regular cut key that wouldn't have the "chip"????? how do you disable the ignition key cylinder system.....

2ND QUESTION

i notice when i go to stick the ignition key into the cylinder and start the car it won't start right away..........its almost like i have to press on the gas pedal and then it will start and run fine.........so my question is would a bad ignition cylinder and key have any effect on the way the car would start?????

i'm just trying to find the cheapest most inexpensive way to start this car...... i don't really care if i have the anti theft system in place or not...........i've read up on the passkey system stuff and i understand somewhat why and how the system works with the chip in the key but i personally don't need it.....

please educate me if you can....thanks....wendell

WP: Try www.usapartssupply.com I know they have these ignition sets for the older models but I'm not sure about yours so give that a go.
