97 Eldo, battery drain. Whats the problem?
Hello. I have been suffering with a battery drain on my 97 Eldo. This has been ongoing for a few years... This is a show car so it sits most of the time anyway, but its nice to be able to start it and move it out of the garage without having to jump start it. I have to return my battery every year because it winds up stone dead. Im sick of this problem!!! Whats the cause??? Its hard to detect in these cars because theres more wires than a NASA space shuttle. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!

I've even had the trunk pulldown motor cause a slow drain, before.
It didn't make any noise.. at all.. it just got hot
Almost drove me insane until I found it
How slow or fast does it drain the battery??

cadillac battery leak
- ask somebody to assist you
- get INTO your trunk
- close trunk completely
- check if trunk light is still on
if it is, as a quick fix you can just disconnect the trunk light
also "trunk is opened" message (even if trunk is completely closed) disappears.
just fixed 91 Eldorado and 95 DeVille - same problem

Fixed it sort of...
Ill check that trunk light!!! If I can fit in there. Damn subwoofers and amps, maybe I can borrow the neighbors kid for a minute... Anyway, I took the ground off the battery and installed a battery switch there and it fixed the problem for now. Plus it deters theft some...
I think the problem started after the head gasketts were replaced (65,000 miles.. cost $2800 to have done OUCH!) or the alarm that "Hector" from Duke car stereo installed... Damn fools.
