93 Sedan de Ville - New Battery - No Start
I have a 93 Sedan de Ville which I inheirited. The transaxle was shot so I purchased a replacement and let the local high school auto shop do the work as a project. When we put it on the trailer we had the engine running in order to use the steering and brakes.
We have always had to jump start the vehicle so, I bought a new battery for it and had the kids put it in today. Trouble now is the vehicle will not start.
Did we set off a security feature? Any ideas?
A little more background. Other than the transaxle not functioning, the vehicle is in excellent shape. As I indicated, I would have to use the battery pack to jump start the vehicle, but once running it sounds fabulous, just like it is ready to drive off into the sunset.

Security system should not have been effected by repair. If this condition occurred after transaxle was replaced - Review repair make sure all connectors and ground wires are attached correctly. Can you better describe condition ...cranks, but wont start...click(s) only...nothing...
I will be checking the connections. From what I understand, I have not tried it myself. My student informed me. The vehicle turns, but no start. We had it running when we loaded it on the trailer to take it over in order to use the steering and the power brakes. Now, there were some wires which had been eaten through by mice which we repaired, I will also be checking to make sure they are correct... How many sensors are on this transaxle and how easy are they to replace?
Provide alarm system was not added; if engine will crank - it's not necessarily VATS. VATS takes out starter too. They need to start with basic no start diag: spark, fuel pressure, injector pulse, compression, and timing. With 4T60-E I'm thinking 3 outside PRNDL switch,VSS & Fluid Thermister(temp sensor) and 2 in side cover 2nd and 4th gear switches.
The problem was not in the battery or security system. The problem was when the high school kids put in the replacement transaxle, they missed the wire which goes to the the ignition coil. We found the female end, but we have not ever found the male end which connects the two. So, I ran a jumper from the female end to the ignition coil and the car started on the first try. I am going to continue the search for the missing wire, but in the meantime, my car runs great. Now I just have to get the front end aligned and some better tires on and I will be ready to roll on a road trip!
