Hello Everyone,
I am the proud owner of 1999 Deville, 47,000 miles. I'd like some instruction on the P0404 code. Car was running smooth as butter, engine light came on, got that code and now it won't go over 30 miles per hour and the temperature went well over normal operating temperature (210-215). It's been parked now for a couple months, except for cranking and running to keep battery alive. Any thoughts?

I would connect a scan tool and look at the data stream before checking the service manual for the P0404 diagnostic procedure.
Scan tools and "Genuine GM" service manuals are likely available used on eBay and other sources. Cheap-junk manuals from Chiltons, Clymers, etc. are toilet paper.
