ok i suck at mechanics so as much help would be greatly appreciated. I just bought the car and the other day when i was getting onto the highway i had to step on throttle cause there was oncoming traffic, when i did so it was as if i lost power, and everytime i tapped the gas peddle it was as if i was pressing the brake. it didnt stop untill i pulled over and started it up again... And now on small trips like just to the store i have to like ease the gas peddle untill like it kicks in... i have no clue can some one please help?

 

Just bought... sound familiar...Is SES light on? Car has a form of electric throttle control, you need to verify its operation.

 

Na no SES light.. The check engine light is on though, and how would i verify my throttles operation?

Sounds like you may have a catalytic converter blockage/stopped up.
What are the codes? You say the Check Engine light is on, so that means there are codes stored. The codes will help point you(and us) in the right direction for a diagnosis. You can check the FAQ section here for info on how to get the codes, or you can go to your local AutoZone, and they will scan, and print out the codes for you, at no charge.
