1994 Eldorado Touring Coupe problems. HELP!
I have a 1994 ETC. It started off when I was driving the car along and it started trying to die. I kept it running but it was running horrible. It would downshift and then fall on its nose and just ran horrible. I have a good friend that was a service writer for Cadillac for about 10 years. I took him for a ride and also talked to techs at the dealership that he worked at. The diagnostics on the dash told us that there were 18 sensors bad. The day before I had cleared all of the faults. And checked them about 8 hours later checked them and they were fine. 0 faults. Everyone told me to replace the computer behind and to the side of the glove box. So I ordered one from Cadillac and had to take the eprom software off of my old computer and installed it. Making sure that my battery was disconnected. Once I got the new computer in the car.... That is when it went crazy.. By turning the key to the on position the speedometer started going up to 40mph. And miles started going by tenths on the car. It would start, but the same as before. Threw all sorts of codes again. The left rear wheel is making a ticking noise. And when I turn the key off there is some kind of cruise control or something that is tied to the throttle. Does anyone have any idea where I can start? I have access to a parts car that has a blown motor. I need help. I love this car, I bought a 96 as a parts car but none of the computers are the same. So I have been just driving it.
Thanks for the reply. Would a bad ground make the engine run very very bad. It acts like it is just pumping gas in the cylinders. I put 10 gallons of gas in it and it drank it down trying to diagnose the problem. Also the car will start the first couple of times, but then it gets to where it acts like it is flooded and will not start for several hours. And another thing that I didn't mention before, when you are starting the engine, the starter engages and disengages like the relay is kicking in and out. I hope that it is the ground. I will check all of the grounds tomorrow. That would be nice. Again thanks for the response!
I have fixed the car for the most part. Someone has leaked brake fluid or something on the top cover that has the Emblem on it and it ran down and got on the wiring harness for the fuel injectors. Almost all of the insulation was gone off of the wires. I am surprised it ran at all. But I got all of that fixed. Now the speedometer is not working. I am also still getting the clicking in the rear wheel on the driver side. And now the traction control is disabled. It said that I needed to change the transmission fluid. I just did that. So I reset that. Still I am getting a P073 and an A013. Any ideas what all of the clicking is? And what has happened to the speedometer?
