Default '04 SRX Turn Signal Probs

So, the right front signal/DRL went out in our '04 SRX. The light was out, andthe signalwas flashing double speed. I remembered from our BMW that this means the bulbis out. Well, I went to O'Reily or AutoZone or whatever, and had the "tech" look up the part. In the owner's manual, it uses a GM part number, but at the auto parts store, they have a different numbering system. The computer spit out a number, and we found one on the shelf. $5.50, and I'm out the door.

If anyone has changed out one of these, I don't have to tell you, it's a pain in the ***. This one little bulb took me two hours. Jacked up the car, took off the front wheel, removed the plastic shields from the fender well, and then went to work on the foglight/signal housing. So I get the bulb out, put the new in, and test it. It tests perfectly! I'm so excited I can't stand it. I decided to do some cleaning while the wheel was off, and then put the whole thing back together.

I run a couple of errands, and start/stop the car 3-4 times. It seems to be working fine, and then while selecting the signal for a right hander, it starts blinking double speed again. I said some curse words, and got out to check the bulb. No dice, it's out again.

Is it possible that I got a bad bulb? Wrong bulb? Could a simple sizing issue cause the bulb to go out that quickly? HELP me avoid the dealer!!!
