Thanks for all the information. I will have the CAT replaced. In the event the car is a Cal model. What would the next step be?

Check message #4, item number two for three easy methods of verifying that the car is designed for California emissions. If it is not a California car, your question is moot.

If it is, I need to know whether the car is required to pass Maryland emissions and whether there are any exemptions for your situation before I can answer your question.
