Cool GM VIN Decoder

Hi folks! I have a black 1989 Coupe Deville, gold edition. The vin is IG6CD1157K4290XXX. It gets weird as numbers vary at the body style, that is, the 6th and 7th digits. Instead of being "47", it is the number "11". Also, the engine # is "5", and the check digit is "7". The same numbers are in the trunk lid and under the hood.

I'm in Canada, but I understand the vin's are allocated in the USA where it was built.

Weird or what??!! Anyone know why??

Post Cadillac VIN decoder

Here's the Cadillac VIN decoder. From some VINs it shows even factory options plus extended tech info.

The earlier links posted point to http://www.compnine.com/vid.php which is a useless decoder that charges $5, now, it was probably free before
Thanks for the helpful link, but can't even get engine information from that site...

Here is a site as of 2019 March that at least shows the engine information, FaxVIN.com
