Hey guys brand new to the site.
My father has a 1939 Cadillac four door(rears are not suicide) V8. I was wondering is there a website or something along those lines were I would be able to find model info from the vin#.

 

the VIN that we use today become standard in the US in 1981, the European cars started using a version of the VIN in 1979.

cars and trucks built in the 30s and 40s were titled by engine number or the body serial number, there was no VIN #. you cant even tell what model year by the numbers, much less what model. these days the DMV will use whatever number they can find on the door pillars or engine lock to issue a title on a car made prior to the modern VIN.

check the casting numbers from the engine & trans .. one of those should match the title, assuming its registered.
