Default Oil dissappearing - WOT & SQUID - Cadillac Deville Northstar

I have a problem with my 2003 Deville it has the northstar engine with about 50,000 miles on it. I have noticed that my oil keeps dissappearing. every 1500 miles or so i have to add some oil. I don't think it is burning it and it is not leaking it. I had a recommendation to check to pcv valve that that might be the problem. Is that a typical problem. and I was wondering where the pcv valve is located exactly and if it is easy to be replaced. I stopped by the dealer and asked them about it and they said I had to replace the cylinder head. Is that true? I was wondering if I could get your input on this matter. I greatly appreciate your help with this matter.
Thanks
Edgar

Oil economy is in GM's acceptable range. Try W.O.T. found in faq section, may help. Is car in or out of warranty, 4yr/50k

TheNorthstarengine is an oil guzzler. Mine uses one quart every 500 miles. The engine has been well maintained and only has 65,000 miles.
Tried the Seafoam, WOT trick and no improvement. Use the cheapest oil, synthetic is not worth it at this consumption rate.

There is another alternative. SLOWROLL can verify but I think the procedure is called SQUID. This is done by the dealer. They remove the spark plugs and inject solvent that removes the carbon on the oil rings and then vacuum the cylinder. It is not a cheap procedure, maybe around $400 but if you plan to keep your car it may be worth it. Hope this helps.

"SQUID" decarboning is an aggressive decarboning of the combustion chambers and piston rings. Designed to free stuck rings. If it does not work you will to install revised pistons and rings. With only 65K would look for factory assistance.
