Default 89 brougham rough trans. acceleration?

I own a 1989 brougham that once the vehicle has been driven for a while the transmission dosent seem to slip once accelerating, but shift really quick. I have to really push the gas peddle hard to get up to speed due to the lack of power when accelerating and the overall jerking of the vehicle. Does anyone know a possible solution to my problem? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!!

Hey Lean: Not exactly sure what your problem might be mainly because of the explanation. You could try and adjust your transmission shift down switch which should be above you gas peddle. That will make the trans. shift down a little sooner and give you the power you need to accellerate. You said the engine was jerking also, this could be your TPS which should be adjustable as well. It will be on the right side of the throttle body, held by two screws.Loosen the screws and adjust it slightly then try the performance, adjust again if required. Hope this helps, chow, for now, Brougham 1.
