It is unreasonable to expect an 8 year old car with 180,000 miles of who knows what sort of useage and related abuse or lack of maintenance to stay like new. I dont care what model, what make, the same thing applies.
The comments above belittle the car, and yet, we have next to NOTHING in details as to what is going on with your car. For all we know, there is nothing wrong with the car or you got a busted coolant hose.
There is a lot of info in our FAQ section to test and verify if in fact you have an issue with a gasket .. AND .. BTW, we know that literally every car that has that issue, that car was ABUSED by the driver at some point. I have yet to see one N* car, anywhere, any model, that has a gasket issue and the car was not OVERHEATED by the driver.
To my knowledge, there is not another automotive engine certified by the FAA for aircraft use, and there is a reason it got the cert.
It takes two events to create a gasket problem. Overheating is one, please read our FAQ to read the rest.
Also, every aluminum engine out there has the same sensitivity to OVERHEATING. Taht includes Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chrysler, etc .. etc .. .. they over ehat, s**** is gona happen. However, the N* has the "camel" mode for such emergencies as it can run with much reduced cooling. BUT if it does, you better do the rigth things IMMEDIATELY afterwards and not just go home and fill it with water.
The N* engine, requires only oil changes and coolant changes for maint in the first 10 years - in my book, that is as good as it gets. Please scan your maint records and email to me and I will happy to give you a personal assessment of your car. You did do your homework when you bought it, right?
Lastly, you have started three threads on the same sujbect in the past 6 weeks without following our suggestions or giving us details. Now its bash the car? What is up with that?
