Default GM "Certified" Warranty

I'm in the process of buying a 2005 STS w/35000 mi. Has 1 yr left on mfgr. warranty. They are trying to sell me a "Certified" warranty for a extra 2 yrs for $1500.00. Is this a necessary evil and or a good price for this warranty??

Are you getting the warranty from a caddy dealership. beware there are all kinds with different limitations. Read the fine print. With proper mainenance your car should not require any repairs over 1500. Also is this warrtanty being financed with the car? You will be paying interest on the warranty?

Just as important to know what isn't covered.

There is some research that you need to do.

Good luck.

ol guy....... i'm taking it the car is coming from a new car dealership, (Cadillac Dealer)and also the vehicle has been certified. if so........PASS
if not, tell the Forum different. being an X Car he, ive seen warranties help poeple big time..... and ive alsoseen alot of unnessary cost figured that wasn't needed. its a gamble, though ifcertified, and from a new Caddy dealership, the odds are way in your favor.....

It is from a "New Car" Cadillac dealer. They also tell me it has to be done immediately with the acquisition of the vehicle. Bottom line is , is "certification" worth the money. I guess it's a "crap shoot" from the getgo. "PEACE"
for some odd reason, this got posted somewhere eles .. now it is here.

boy, im way behind..... sorry getting back so late. you have probobly made your dicission on the car by now. however, the car that they want to sell you a certified warranty for has, i believe already been certified for that warranty. so, imo i would not buy the warranty. good luck

There would be no doubt in my mind and would purchase the extended warranty. My extented warranty cost me $3400 with a $100 deductable for 4 years or 48000 miles and I wouldn't have it any other way especially with a used car. I have about 8 months to a yearof factory warranty left but what about after that expires? One good repair job can pay for the warranty by itself so please don't be foolish protect yourself.

Not all Cadillac dealers certify used Cadillacs during prep. They will offer it like an extended warranty 6yr/100k. 1500.00 is a little strong typically its 750.00 be sure you know what you are getting. Cert.pre-owned Cadillacs have a 6yr/100k warranty with rental on the drop for warranty repairs.
