Default 2001 STS - Sensor problem?

Hi all!

New to the forum as you can see this is my first post.

I recently purchased an 01 STS with 67k on her.
Under the hood is fine, beautiful actually, however my DIC is messed up.
Here's a list of what isn't working
- fuel gauge (always E)
- temp gauge
- battery light on, strange since my DIC says battery volts ok and she starts like a charm. (alternator perhaps?)
- airbag light on
- DIC displays but no readings (i.e tire pressure, temp, feature programming, fuel economy..grrr!)
- the digital display works but always says i'm in DRIVE, even when in R, 1, 2, or 3. ?!!!

My father said it may be possible that something may have gotten wet, and yes, I have that infamous trunk leak that so many STS's have, but my rear passenger seat is bone dry and so is the rear floor. The leak goes straight to my spare tire well.

I know very little about the mechanics of a car, and electonics nothing at all.
I'd like to get some opinions prior to visiting my local dealer$hip, perhaps even find a dealer alternative who is a whiz with Cadillacs and their gadgets etc...
