2001 Cadillac DTS: Can I put a 2000+ STS Northstar in it no problem?
I have a 2001 DTS, fully loaded every option, massaging heated seats, night vision, etc... that I got for a low price with 270KM's on it, it's in good condition it's just got bad head gaskets. I'm planning on fixing them but in the meantime, I'm throwing around the idea of finding a parts car for a new engine. I was thinking about taking a 2000+ STS, but I don't want to deal with conversion bull****. I just don't know if it's doable. I think they're both the same Digit 9 300HP Northstars, aren't they? I'd be completely fine with a used 300HP Northstar from a DTS but they seem to be hard to come across, I'm only finding the lower 275HP motor... If anyone knows if I could put an STS engine from 2000+ in my car without issue, please fill me in!!

2000 and up are the same detuned Northstar up to maybe 2003. The engine changed in 2004.
99 to 97 and possibly 96 are the same.
You can not put a 99 Northstar in a 2000 car.
2000 through 2002 should all be the same.
don`t worry about the hp rating only the cam profiles are a bit different.
