I have a 2008 srx all wheel drive and it suddenly will not go into gear. The gear selector indicates I am in a gear but does not engage. When this happens there is a loud ratchet sound like a cable to the ching a rotating part heard from under car. I ran scanner on it and only code is P0897 which says degraded trans fluid. What is the fix?

 

I do not know the fix but the sound could be the chain in the transfer case slipping which would make it not pull. Check the fluid level.
