Cadillac 2013 SRX Cracked Screen Again!

I had the dealer replace the screen 18 months ago and it has cracked again. The spider cracks get bigger by the day. I called Cadillac and they told me that the Cue/Radio only has a 1 yr warranty. Very bad representation from a company that already knows this is a defect. I'm not spending a penny on the radio. Time to switch Cars and Companies.

2014 XTS with a cracked screen.

My dealer said it was past 3 years so they want $1500 to fix the cracked screen. I personally know 3 other cadillac owners tjis happened to. I even boight a 100000 mile warranty but the cadillac dealer sold me one that was not by GM. I only have 25k miles on my garaged XTS. This shoild be recall repair.

Cue screen spider webbing cracks

I have my 2014 SRX at my dealership today and was told it would cost $1,060 to replace the cracked Cue screen. I keep my car parked in a garage both at home and work. With the volume of individuals who have this issue, the response by Cadillac is extremely disappointing. Unfortunately I do not think I will invest in another Cadillac as a result.

same issue

I have a 2013 Cadillac ATS and this same stuff started happening to me a couple of months ago. I dont know where to turn. I bought the car used from a toyota dealership but when I bought it the screen was fine. It only took one 100 degree day that I left the car outside and it got the first crack and then started spider-webbing after that. Now its taking 40% of the screen and the touch rarely works on it. It has 100k miles but I have a warranty I bought when I bought the car, I doubt it covers this but still I think Cadillac should be responsible for at least the replacement of the screen and cover those costs if they cant cover the labor. Its crazy thats its faulty and they look the other way. Who do I have to call?

Second Time Cue Screen has cracked.

I have a 2013 SRX (purchased Dec 2012), saw the cracking in July, 2015 at ~42,000 miles, and got a repair at the dealer under warranty. Now the same spider web cracking has happened again at ~99, 000 miles in July, 2018. I had an extended warranty to 98, 500 and the dealer wanted ~$1400 to replace. When I asked about potential discounts or other assistance with the extended warranty just expiring, my advisor said this was "a known issue he was surprised they had not already recalled" and that his supervisor would call me back. I've never heard from the supervisor and they have not returned my messages. My family (in another state where there are larger and more Cadillac dealerships) has has great experience with Cadillac, but this whole issue has really soured my taste. Any suggestions?

2016 SRX with cracked cue

Why are these cracking? What do I need to go to get it replaced? Is Cadillac covering the replacement? I have a 2016 SRX limited

fedcaddy 09-26-2018 08:51 AM

Yesterday, my 2017 ATS 2.0T Sedan just turned 14K miles and is experiencing cracks on CUE screen. The system has a mind of its own; it will randomly beep and program radio channels over existing presets. Also will not respond to touch until the car is restarted. Going to the dealer soon with this one. It's my third Cadillac in 10 years; love the brand, but this issue must be resolved.

2014 ATS 2.0 Turbo Spider Crack Touchscreen

Hello,
I have a 2014 ATS 2.0 Turbo and I am having the same problem with my vehicle. This is the second time that I had to fix the touchscreen. Today I went to the dealership and it will cost me $1,300.00 to get it fixed. The dealership representative said, "this is a manufacturing defect and he does not know why Cadillac has not issued a recall". The spider cracks on the bottom left side of the touchscreen are affecting the A/C, heating controls, radio functions and the hands free phone controls. Why should I pay for a manufacture defect? Can anyone please direct me to the right person/department at Cadillac to resolve this issue?

Thank you in advance, your help is appreciated.
Rudy Arredondo, Tx.

Possible assistance

I too have same problem with my 2013 SRX. I would suggest owners contact the Attorney General Office of their state. Florida has the Consumer Protection section that deals with issues just like this. With as wide spread that this problem is, I think they will look into to this.

Cue screen spider webbing

I have a 2014 Cadillac ATS.but bought 11/2015 .that had same problem on 12/27/2017 they replace with out a problem. Now it's 1/30/2019 An same problem again. I called an was told $187.00 for labor. I understand someone needs paid but I shouldn't be the one paying them. This is a defect not something I've done. Only 34,000 on car an the new replacement was on 14 months ago. I'm waiting for a call back since I refuse to pay for a defected part an seeing I'm not the only one isn't right. I will go to the top of the chain then my family lawyer. This issue needs fixed period!! Might be looking for something other then a Cadillac if this doesn't go right... I seen on here there is a class action law suit 🤔

2015 SRX Cue display spider cracks

Hello, my wife has a 2015 SRX and she just noticed spider cracks on the Cue display. We took it to the local dealer and the said it is not covered under the extended warranty. Is there anything that can be done? They want to charge $1500. It is sad to drive a beautiful car an then the screen in the center looks horrible.

benica 03-18-2019 10:00 PM

Cue screen

Just replaced mine. Ebay purchase. 100 and some odd dollars.
Removing the Cue/radio was not difficult.
A few hours total for removing and replacing.
Instructions came with the screen and I also went online and did a search for replacement.
It was not difficult at all.
If you decide to do yours, wear rubber gloves like the doctors use. When you remove the old screen...the black matrix screen behind the Cue screen absorbes fingerprints easy! And once you get it all back together...you'll notice the fingerprints when you turn the Cue/radio on otherwise! I had to remove the Cue a second time and wipe the prints off.

Ashley,

My name is Tony Motquin, I am from Green Bay, WI. On April 20th, 2019 I bought a used 2013 ATS with only 38000 miles on it. Yesterday, 5/15/19 when I got in my car after work I noticed spider webbing in the lower right corner of the CUE screen, the same spider webbing that people on this forum have been talking about. I took it to the local Cadillac dealer in Green Bay. They knew exactly what I was talking about as they have seen numerous CUE screens with this same issue. They told me that it was going to be $1600 to fix which is a lot since this is a manufactring defect. Has Cadillac now conceded that this ia a manufacturing defect? I'm wondering if you would be able to help me with this. I have read on this forum as well as on other forums where even though out of warranty Cadillac has replaced the CUE at no cost and the consumer has paid for the labor. $1600 is a hard pill to swallow for a vehicle that I have only had a little over 3wks that at this point only has 39000 miles on it.

spider web cracking que system

I have a 2013 SRX and first the screen stopped working all together, they put in a new system and covered that. Now 2 years later that screen is cracking from the inside. This a serious issue as my son has also purchased a Cadillac. This car has been a disappointment. When its very obvious that multiple people have had this issue, We pay enough for these cars and these issues should not fall on our shoulders. Cadillac should support their customers or we will just buy other cars in the future.

did you ever get help for this issue?

Is there really no service bulletin for this?

I have a 2014 ATS bought new. Spider webbing appeared yesterday afternoon out of nowhere on one third of the screen. Surely with so many occurrences this should be covered. I plan to contact the dealer today but it would certainly be less painful if I could direct them to a specific service bulletin.

Fixed myself. Bought replacement display and tools for $64 on Amazon. Watched YouTube how to video. In just under 1.5 hrs the replacement display was installed and working. $64 v $1600, no brainer.

Cue Screen Cracked.....

Came out to my Cadillac SRX with a spider web cracked screen the other day. I called the Cadillac Dealer where we had the Cue system installed a few years back after it completely stopped working. They took 3 hours to let us know it's wear and tear and in no way would they help with replacing or discounting a new Cue screen/system. We had it replaced under warranty and unfortunately the our warranty expired in April 2019. Disappointed by the lack of of help from the dealership and the attempt to charge a diagnostic fee when the "diagnosis" was This is very common and the weather is not hot so it's bound to happen. Not exactly what we wanted to hear and since this is our 4th summer with this SRX a little shocked to hear that it's from the heat and that it is bound to happen. Any one have any luck getting help this issue? Help!!!

Thank you,

Matt C.

CUE screen cracks

I have a 2013 SRX with 75000 miles and have noticed the spider web cracks forming on both sides of the screen. Cadillac replaced the screen once under warranty. This should be a recall item. It seems to be a large problem for Cadillac owners.

Cue webbing 2016 SRX

I noticed a small webbing on my cue display a few weeks ago and now with the hot weather it has expanded to about 20% of the screen. After reviewing some of the other posts, this seems to be a common problem with this model. Will be interesting to see if Cadillac will cover this repair.

Cracked Cue Screen

My 2016 SRX had same problem, one day it was fine next day it was spider webbed. It was at about 41,000 miles so warranty covered the issue. This seems to be rampant with these defective screens. There are some good videos on you tube showing how to replace it yourself. The Cadillac's seem to get below average ratings in reliability/repair issues. From what I can interpret it is this cue system, and the other electronic elements that seem to be the culprits in the overall problem ratings .

ENBehm 06-19-2019 07:49 PM

Thanks for your reply. My dealer took care of it.

fastwheels 06-28-2019 01:46 PM

Just had this happen to my 2014 CTS V-Sport Premium yesterday. Only 33,000 miles. Dealer won't discuss over the phone - want me to bring it on for the $150 diagnosis. It's pretty clear what the problem is - there are many pictures on this thread alone that look almost identical to what I have now. It is ridiculous that this is not covered by a TSB or recall of some type. To call this 'normal wear and tear' on a low-mileage $72,000 car is a joke.

My wife's 2015 SRX has the same screen - I guess it's only a matter of time before that one goes too...

The new Lincolns are looking pretty good to us right about now...

Susand 08-01-2019 03:38 PM

This just happened to my 2015 the other day but the weather was extremely hot out side. I feel they should do a recall .called the dealer, it is spreading more each day.

I came out to my 2014 SRX yesterday after not driving it for a few days. I noticed that the cue screen on the left side had some spider webbing cracks in the screen , NO impact to the screen from objects and you cant feel the cracks with your nails. I drove it for about 1 hour with the heat on and it appears to have spread into longer cracks. What gives ? I`m contacting my dealer and the Cadillac customer service department and see what they are going to do . I only have 17k on it . I HOPE they dont give me a problem and say its from abuse or misuse, it is a touch screen and I see that other Cadillac`s are having the same issue.

Exact same issue happened to me 2014 CTS 30k miles. I parked the car in my driveway Friday afternoon, got in it Monday morning and spider cracks galore.
I called the dealer, they knew exactly what it was and quoted me $1,700. I'm about 9 months out of warranty. I cannot believe there isn't a recall, seems like a very common issue.

I think the only thing that can be done is to politely inform, by letter, Cadillac and GM. Let them know that there are many complaints about this online and we all know about spider-webbing. We can tell that something needs to be done.

Cadillac Complaints

I have the same problem with my 2015 SRX Q screen.

I started to see spidering in the bottom right corner with no sign of trauma to it. I am shocked to find out that this is such a common problem and Cadillac has not isssued a common recall fix. I am 400 miles out of warranty and looking at all 1,400.00 repair cost! Is Cadillac going to address this issue?

Gumbasia 08-14-2019 05:22 PM

2017 ATS-V Spider Webbing

Unfortunately, same here with me on a very low mileage 2017 ATS. My screen was becoming unresponsive and not allowing me to change via touch. I look in the lower left hand corner and there is a quarter size crack on the second layer of the screen. Luckily I'm still under warranty but my dealership hasn't been very helpful in the past. I am sure I'll get the run-around...

Darkopke 08-20-2019 04:42 PM

Same issue

I have a 2013 SRX and mine too, just started webbing and spreading. I can’t believe how many people have this problem. Is it better to fix it myself or take it to the dealer? I bought it used and it’s out of warranty.

Susand 08-20-2019 05:30 PM

I just had mine fixed at the dealership. I had a warranty so my repair was covered. They did say that it had to do with the high heat and the material it was made from.
I guess they now have made some changes.

Thanks ...... guess I’ll be doing the same......this is my first, and last Cadillac......I’ve driven Lincoln’s for years and never had problems like this

Susand 08-21-2019 06:48 AM

This also is my first Cadillac and will be my last one. I feel the car doesn’t have enough extras and really isn’t that wonderful as some people say, They really should have done a recall for this issue.

ENBehm 09-07-2019 09:06 PM

Well let me say thanks Sam. I managed to get mine fixed at the dealer. Of course they replace the entire Que unit. They would do well to buy some of these faces from you. It would be faster and cheaper. I think they are doing a terrible job of handling this.

you are most welcome but am not really owning this solution, i just got the same problem and found this on utube so i had to sign up on this forum to share this piece of info, hope it becomes useful for the majority of people here as it seems like a legit solution, a replacement CUE is expensive, a HASSLE to get it honored by the warranty and there is No guarantees it will not crack again in the future, also the high cost will definitely have a bad impact on economy lol (just kidding) this seems like a legit cheap solution with a rather HUGE problem, for a fraction of the cost and as per the seller his screen will Not develop the same issue in the future as their's is not having the soft gel embedded inside which usually results in this issue !...

[quote]
the spider web appearance will spread to the rest of the screen over time. This design failure is a known issue and resolves the problem in 95% of cases. It will not crack again in the future as it is a gel free design
