I just bought a used 2016 ATS 3.6L with low miles and this happened yesterday. *grunch* I'm guessing this has to do with the adjacent air vents? I've had this car a week with no issues, and then yesterday when driving home it was a hot day and the AC was pumping but the air vent adjacent and left of the CUE screen was closed. I opened it, and about 5 minutes later when I looked back to change the radio... BOOM! Spiderwebs right next to the same air vent.

Just got back from the dealer and still being under warranty it looks like they're going to replace at no cost. I have to go back Monday to grab my loaner and drop baby off, but adviser said she would order the screen in the meantime and mentioned nothing about cost.

Kills me to see this is a common problem and will likely happen again.

Rwilliams 05-10-2018 12:55 PM

Mine had the same issue. I took it to the dealership and mine was under warranty and they replaced. However I am concerned with so many of us have the same issue that one "NO DEFECT" or RECALL

They should be held accountable since this has nothing to do with me and the use of my cue.

I will update everyone after my appointment this afternoon.

My Cue was under warranty and was replaced. I asked questions, trying to find out what caused the issue but I received no reply. I am glad I was under warranty but concerned this is an ongoing problem. I know they have no recalls and when I mentioned this seemed to be a defect, the room got quiet.

Cue screen spider webbing

HI,
I got the same Cue screen spider webbing last week. I parked my SRX 2013 on parking lot of my company for ~8 hrs last Wednesday. When I started my car back home, I suddenly found this spider webbing on my Cue screen. The system is still operational. The break seems from inside out. My SRX 2013 has only <33,000 miles on it. I contacted local Cadillac dealer. They said that it is out of warranty and needs $1,200 non-refundable deposit for repair. I checked internet and found that this seems the problem only found on Cadillac. I feel that this is a quality issue not a use issue. Is there any one who has idea how to handle this problem? Thanks!

Steven

Class action lawsuit from all Cadillac owners experiencing this problem? I had read there were over 16,000 reported incidents.

I dropped mine off this morning for the replacement (under warranty thankfully) along with a look at my transmission which seems to have some issues as well.

Update: 5-7-18 The dealer service mgr kindly called back today and said they didn't need to see my CUE screen. But they also said they needed to order one since they are out of screens. Likely this is a well known defect, and they cant keep the screens in stock. Still hope they don't send me a bill after the work, and I hope they don't install another defect waiting to happen. A service bulletin should explain this, so were is one? Heat, time, and bend seems to influence these radial lines in the back screen glue. I have 1 yr left to initial warranty.

Interesting. I'm wondering if this is like the "glass lens cover" you can get for cell phones? I think the day before you're going to replace the unit you should see if you can peal off the top coat?

Final- update I hope:
Cadi Dealer replaced the screen under orig warranty, and seemed to be familiar with this issue. Service mgr noted he has yet to see a repeat screen delamination occur after a replacement. He could not tell me if the screens were made better or differently. To me the issue is the soft glue between the touch screen-sensor screen which seems to start to pull off after excessive heat. If these parts were sandwiched better, or more flatly, this may not happen, unless its just that the glue was not placed on well, or was defective. The lines are AIR which slips inside the screen as the glue shrinks or the screen lifts. This is only My opinion an a jack of all trades engineer. Definitely someone has a bulletin on this and the MFGR is getting holy-hell on the quality as this is costly to someone. Too bad we wont know which screens if any are good ones. I will be curious as to what the real issue was. I should have kept the old screen and ripped it apart to find out myself. Until I know, I will fear warm days but how many can there be in upper NY.

sfstew 05-18-2018 11:41 AM

Having the same problem with our 2014 SRX with 60,000 miles. The CUE screen is cracked/spider webbed. The dealer advised this was a $2000.00 repair that we would be responsible for as the car is out of warranty and there is no extended warranty coverage. Since this is a somewhat common problem as evidenced by the other commenters, is there something Cadillac can to help us take care of this issue?

CUE Screen Spider Webbing

I have a 2013 Cadillac ATS that was purchased preowned about 2.5 years ago. A few hair line cracks were notice a couple of weeks ago that now have progressed to spider web appearance. The outside screen is smooth BUT the CUE edge has what appears to be little air bubble under the clear plastic coating. I'm beyond the 50,000 miles warranty but this seems like a manufactory defect. issue. I live in Texas and it's only going to get hotter which means the entire screen will probably shatter. Is any type of rebate availble?

Cadillac Admits that part for the cue screen is defective

I just went to the dealership yesterday thinking that I’m going to Get my cue screen fixed because the service tech told me over the phone that I would get a free screen replacement because they are aware the Screen in the Cadillac spiders on all the models and that they’re fully aware of it but when I get there the story changes to the replacement cost $1,000 and that that the new screen isn’t going to spiderweb admitting that the old screen is completely defective. It’s just ridiculous how that They can just blow you off tell you on top of it there’s $200 labor for installation so I decided to call the Cadillac manufacturer and tell them that This is a problem and that the dealership knows that the screen is extremely defective and the woman I talked to said that these forums of complaints don’t mean anything and that each of us need to call up and physically complain. She said she is aware of the issue but there hasn’t been Enough verbal complaints that I can pay the 1,200 and I will be reemberssed for it if key word if a recall comes out. So basically if you own a 2014 or 15 Cadillac you are screwed cause I keep my car garage kept and it still cracked and of coarse I’m at 54,000 miles and my warranty for that type of part is only covered to 50 it just conveniently happened right after the warranty expired. I feel this is a disgrace to the Cadillac legacy that I always dreamed of owning but now my dream car has a defective part that Cadillac is aware of. I just don’t get it. Cause I asked how are you guaranteed this doesn’t happen again and the writer tells me that it’s a totally different material that won’t crack that they are fully aware of a defective screen. I feel this should be made public, I’m thinking of going to social media, and I’m going to call Fox News and other news stations and tell them how Cadillac is selling defective parts in there cars and refuse to replace them that something as simple as a lamenant screen for the cue screen that operates everything in the car . One that spiders in nice weather and from heat coming out your vents

Cue screen spider webbing

my SRX screen is also spider cracking and it seems to be getting worse. It looks terrible and is the first thing people comment on when they get in my vehicle. We brought it in before warranty was up but we’re told it looked like it was done on purpose too much force. I called Cadillac and they said to go back and get a diagnostic done. I’m not sure why I should need to do that when according to this forum this is a known issue. Anybody get a good resolution or if you paid to fix what’s the average cost?

Cue screen cracked

As many other of you, no abuse or physical damage, and just a few months out of Warranty....has GM stepped up to the plate on this issue? Just happened to me today, over a holiday weekend....

Discovered cue screen had spider crack

While on vacation, my parents left their Cadillac in a hotel parking lot all day. In the evening, I went out to the car and discovered the cue screen was cracked when entering the car. No one in my family believes me and thinks it couldn’t happen without impact especially since the windows were cracked. Their car is under warranty but they are upset I am not telling the truth about it. Do you have statistics on how often this happens? I can see this forum is flooded with similar issues. It isn’t enough. Help me prove to them this is the shotty design of the Cadillac. Please.

Same issue as previously reported. Sunday morning, turned on car and screen looked like a phone that got dropped. This is very disappointing for a 2014 vehicle - or any vehicle. Certainly not a wear item, or one that get's abused. This is clearly a defect in the glass that needs to be addressed.

Heat completely shattered my Cue screen

Even with the windows cracked the heat completely spider webbed my 2014 XTS Cue Screen. I am hoping with so many of these that Cadillac will put out a bulletin or recall. This is Michigan, cannot imagine what people are going through in warmer states.

Has anyone heard any updates about this? I have a 2013 SRX and this just happened. I find it unacceptable that Cadillac knows about the defect and isn’t taking care of it.

I’ve been a proud and loyal Cadillac owner since 2000 — very disappointed.

Spider web cracks in CUE screen on SRX

Went out to get in my 2014 SRX today and found the upper left of the CUE screen completely scratched/spiderweb crack ..... What is the solution to this problem??

Natasha 06-14-2018 02:14 PM

I was told by my dealership that the CUE screen was covered under basic warranty and while we were under the mileage parameter, we were over 4 years old, so it is not covered for us. We were quoted $3000 (CAD) for parts and labor to replace it. Unacceptable. Now that I know Cadillac is aware of the issue and knows of the DEFECT, how can they possibly expect their CUSTOMERS to pay for that? Waiting to hear back from Customer Service -- will take to social media, if need be.

I have a 2014 ATS and this just happened to my car yesterday. We are having a heat wave in Chicago and my car was in my garage all weekend. I went to drive it Sunday night and noticed the spider web on the right side of the screen. If there is any solution to this problem I would greatly appreciate it. Took it to the dealership and they said there are aware of this issue and that it would cost $1,500 to replace. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cad...b2ceb73ea9.jpg

cue screen spider webbing

Over Memorial Day weekend, my cue screen developed spider webbing. I have a 2014 SRX with 72,000 miles. I have not had any other problems with my vehicle. I took the car to my local dealership where I was quoted $1000 for the repair. I have been reading this forum and understand this is a common problem with the screen. I am disappointed with Cadillac's reputation that this problem exists and I am not receiving any compensation. Any suggestions?

2014 XTS V Sport

https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cad...428e1556e2.jpg2014 XTS V Sport Cue Screen Spider Webbing
Same issue as everyone else. I always keep my XTS garage kept and it only has 76k on it. Always been serviced at the dealer. This car has been babied and then 15 minutes in the store on a hot day and BAM, 40% of the cue screen is jacked up.

A quick Google search shows clearly this is a defect, and on that, thus far, GM/Caddilac is unwilling to own.

I've had 3 Escalades and 1 XTS in the last 6 years and this is going to be a real deal breaker for me if they don't stand behind this issue and own it. No one should pay $60 k for a vehicle to have this problem only 4 years and 76k miles in.

GM, are you guys seeing this? Seems like high time to have a recall.

Cadillac Cue CTS Cracked Screen

i have. 2016 Cadillac CTS. I just returned from vacation and found my CUE screen was completed filled with spider webbing cracks. I have no idea how this occurred. Unfortunately I have 50,500 miles on it. I will be contacting the dealer tomorrow to see if there is any grace period to get this fixed since it is obviously some kind of product defect. I read on line it is a $1500 repair. Yikes! I have read many people having a similar issue on this forum, but I have not read any resolution to this issue.. I am hoping Cadillac will stand behind their product.

Cue screen spider webbing

I have a 2014 Cadillac ATS with 32,000 miles on it and I’m having the same exact issue with the cue screen spider webbing cracks within the inside of the screen. The dealership has replaced this screen back in 2016 without any problems but now they are saying that they will have to get with GM to see what can be done. This is evidently a known issue with these cue screens and why haven’t Cadillac did a recall yet or fix this known problem!!!! I’m not sure if it’s the heat in Texas that is causing this or what, but this starting when my car was parked outside the garage for about 1 month. If I have to replace this with my own money then Cadillac has just lost a customer.

Cue Screen spider cracking

My 2013 SRX NAV screen developed a thumbprint size imperfection last February in sub freezing temperatures. Now with temps in the high 90’s, it is fanning out. I am out of warranty. Is this a defect that the factory assumes responsibility to repair at no cost? If not, what should the repair cost?

Thanks,
Dianne

LWalkerLex 06-28-2018 08:49 AM

My 2014 SRX cue screen has done the same thing. This is a defect that Cadillac is completely aware of and will do nothing about. Oh sorry, they will give you a "discounted price" of $1100 to repair it. I am extremely unimpressed with the company customer service for not doing what's right in this case.

I spoke with Moore Cadillac’s Service Manager yesterday. He confirmed the replacement cost is $1,500. It is not on a factory recall status, and urged me to call the maniufactuer. I am not going to replace mine at this time, but will contact Cadillac/GM.

I wish I would've known about this forum sooner. I have a 2014 ATS with 32,000 miles on it just found out bumper to bumper warranty ended in January. I was quoted 1500 to get it fixed. If I knew this was an issue for this year of car, I would have passed. I thought I was getting a great deal on this car. Only had this car for a year. Not happy about this at all.

2014 CTS Cue Screen Spider webbing

Hello, Just privately bought a 2014 CTS Premium about a month ago. Only 18,500 miles on it to date. Went to start it this evening and the Cue screen has a large amount of spider webbing. The touch screen works. Why is this not considered a recall with so many people having the same issue? Why would you make people pay for the defect if it's a know one??? Taking to dealer on Tuesday... guess we will see what they say.

Michelle DeLeeuw 07-02-2018 05:11 PM

Why isn’t Cadillac covering this defect??

I just got my 2014 SRX a year or so ago, and it only has 51,000 miles on it. I noticed terrible internal cracking in the last week... Over half of my screen is covered. I was also quoted around $3,000 to repair. RIDICULOUS! This cost should not be put on the consumers as this is clearly a defect on the manufacturers part. Where is the recall? So many consumers are having this issue so something needs to be done. We shouldn’t have to pay for your defects. We paid enough for the vehicle. Please do something!!

When I brought it in to my local dealership my Service foreman told me there are a lot of issues with them. Mine was not responding to any tactile input. and sticking in modes. According to the rep Florida Heat causes the issues. Where are you located?

Hope this helps
