Passenger front seat won't stay up....
Hello to the forum, this is my 1st post and i need some help. I have had a 1992 seville for 6 years. I just took it to get painted. When I went to pick it up, the passenger front seat was all the way down(laying on the pack seat). I pulled the handle and moved the seat to the up position and pushed the handle down to the locked position, but the seat just flopped back down. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the quick response...I did report it, but they said they weren't even on that side of the car....I don't even want to get off on that tirade, but to make a long story short, I got stuck. Is there anything I can do to repair the latch myself?

RE: Passenger front seat won't stay up....
a couple of things ...
1. report to the Better Biz Bureau. i have no patience for a biz that
works in such ways. enough complaints and they will stop or
go out of biz. feel free to name the biz that painted the car for
you - the 1st post tells the rest.
2. look at driver side and compare to see what gave way. it may be something
simple or may require major surgery. no way to tell w/o looking at it.
if this is something that is out of your arena, drive it to a upholstory shop and
see what they say. such folks deal with these things often.

Thanks again Stealth. BTW, The company I went to was maaco in chesapeake, va. I just wanted to freshen up my caddy without breaking the bank and they broke my seat, not to mention the sanding dust all over the interior and the overspray all over my chrome.

sorry to hear all that happened.
they may not do top notch work, but many people use them
with acceptable results. not great, but acceptable.
i dont think macco corp would like their name abused by a local
guy that could care less. you may want to consider reporting to the
corp office also. send them pics. they might just take care of you.
nothing to lose.
here in CA, small claims limit is $7,000. well worth a fight when put
up against a wall.
i hope the seat breakage is minor, since your seats are not exactly cheap.

hey stealth, thanks for the advice. i sent an email to the corp office and to make a long story short, my car is getting the seat fixed as we speak.

RE: Passenger front seat won't stay up....
hey stealth, i hope you read this and can reply back soon.....so, i take the car back to maaco and they say they are gonna fix it and yes they say they will do it for free....gee, thanks....well, now i call them after having it there this whole time and they tell me that they took the seat apart and it seems like it just broke because of age(like the hood shocks) and they can't fix it and I need to purchase a new seat.....does that seem right? I am not sure if you know much about interiors, but does that seem justified? I have NEVER heard of a seat just breaking. And if that is correct, does anyone know what other seats might be compatable with a 92 seville. Thanks again.
