Talking over heating and oil service light flashes

hey , I have a 97 sls and experiencing temp problems ...I've loosened the drain plug .."hesitant to force out .. pulled hose at thermostat and bottom of radiator ..twistd plug-head several rotations with leakage..but wanted to know about the engine oil light...levels is fine ...coolant has very slight tinge of rust color....wanted to flush through a few times ...check radiator thermo state on stove..and fill properly; is dex-cool a must have??
Thanks
Dave

i prefer the green over the dexcol for this reason once decol over heats it becomes clumpy ,(sticking together as small *****) the green is good has differenet properties but if u use the green i would do a year or 1.5 year flush all the time because it likes to change colour.
