I have a 94 sts that runs at about 220 degrees in the summer and i was wondering is that the normal temperature or is mine running too hot. i completely flushed out the coolant and replaced it but it still runs at 220.

my car tried to overheat the other day due to some leaks in the cooling system, got upto 248 degrees. Is my engine ok, or could this have cause damage? now the car runs 196-213 sometimes going upto 230 degrees. Also is 230 degrees ok???
any help is very much appreciated thanks!

how can we help unless you give details, car model, engine, year, detailed problem?

of course damage is always a possibility in any engine that overheats,

It's a '97 STS, he's opened a new thread for this.

Fortunately the NS has the "Limp Home" feature, so I doubt that that temporary surge in temperature caused any major damage (which does not exclude any pre-existing damage). I'd change the oil though.

I do not even attempt to follow the Dexcool saga, it makes me dizzy. I know that FSMs do have errors in them but figured that I am on relatively sound ground if I follow their recommendations (that and read the TSBs).
