Battery question
I own a 1998 Cadillac Seville SLS.with.123,000 original miles..I'm elderly and only drive car once a week for groceries. Ever couple years I find myself putting new battery in it..My question ! Can I use a red top Optima battery and be safe for passangers? (No vent tube on optima)My personal experience with optima is they last much longer than other batterys.I have one in my 1984 ford f150 for God knows the years and still strong...any professional opinion?

When used with a properly regulated constant voltage charging system (such as an alternator), the OPTIMA will not emit hydrogen gas. However, gassing can occur when charging at excessive voltage levels or in extreme high-temperature conditions. In automotive applications, this typically will not happen if the alternator/regulator stays below 15 volts.
