Default arnott rear suspension struts

I am in the process of replacing the rear struts on my 96 STS. I ordered the aftermarket kit from Arnott Industries. When went to install the new struts there was a package that contained strut damper solenoids(?). There is no place on the new struts to install this item. The old ones had this attached directly to the strut. Does anyone know how this attaches to the strut or is it possible that I was sent the wrong part?

Ah, problem solved
Here's the reply I got from Arnott:

The shocks are passive not electronic. Those sensors only bypass the computer. We used to weld them to the shock, but found that it caused weak spots in the shock. So now we just include the bypass sensors separately. Just plug them in and tie them up out of sight. Sorry for any inconvenience.
