2002 SLS engine just stops running
Hi all,
I have a 2002 SLS with about 63K miles on it. The car for the most part is a dream, but it willstall with no warning...usually when I've stopped and it's idling and I didn't give the car a warm up period. The past 2 days it's actually died while sitting and idling while I'm letting it warm up. When I go to restart, it takes longer for the engine crank to engage unless I turn the ignition off completely and wait about 5 secs before trying to restart. Also at times, when driving it will 'lurch' like its going to stall. I'll try to pull the engine codes tonight when I get home from work. Any thoughts?
Thanks
AJ
I just pulled the codes:
DDM U1301 history
U1713 history
IPC U116 history
IRCU1016 history
MSMB1860 history
U1000 history
PCM P0385 history
Since I have no clue what any of this means, could one of these codes identify why the car keeps stalling and bucking?
thanks in advance for any help.

RE: 2002 SLS engine just stops running
I agree. I had the same exact issue with my Ford Thunderbird SC and replacing the crank sensor fixed it. Don't know how difficult it is to replace one on a caddy SLS but the Tbird wasn't easy and I had it done at a shop. They charged me $100.00 extra for diagnostics although I supplied them the part knowing it was the crank sensor so be aware of that.
