Default Trunk pull down problems

Hello,

I have a 1993 cadillac fleetwood brougham. The trunk pulldown motor works when you manually hit the switch with the trunk wide open; however when the trunk gets to about 3/4 closed the motor will stop and the license plate light will come on. Both switches are working fine. I guess my question is, how does the trunk know when it is closed, is there some kind of magnetic switch or ground circuit? What mine is doing seems backwards to me.

Thanks,

There is a switch that turns motor off. It sound like you may have poor ground and circuits may be "back feeding"

Thanks for the response slowroll,

I am aware of the stop switch on the motor and it is working. Mine stops before the trunk is even contacting the latch, when it is about a foot above it. Anywhere you know of to find a wiring schematic for this model?

Thanks
