Default trunk pull down motor questions

My trunk pull down does not work because I believe I am missing a part. The motor is there and works fine and the wiring harness is there an the wiring functions as it should. The problem is the motor only has a hook up for two wires. The harness has four wires as it should. I think I am missing a part that goes between the four harness wires and the motor itself. Some kind of actuator or switch of some kind?? Maybe someone can show me a picture of how there pull down hooks up. Something is missing on mine and I do not know what the part is. Thanks in advance.

My schematics only show two wires to motor plus ground. Are you sure the spares aren't for the license plate lite or?? To motor should be orange stripe/ green solid.

Default RE: trunk pull down motor questions

I'll have to take a picture of what I have. My schematics show the four wires. My book is out in the car and I can not remember what is which. I know red was hot, then there was black/white, green, and solid black is ground. The red is of course power but the other wires control the direction the current flows through some sort of switch/relay/actuator?? I can hook up the red and black wires to the motor and get it to move and by switching the connections around it will go the opposite direction. I have a factory service manual and I am certain the four wires are correct but some sort of part is missing that controls the direction of the power flow. I hope I am making sense. My car is a 1993 if that makes any difference. I am under the impression that these motors have not changed since the early 80's. I am kind of thinking that the part I am missing sits right on top of the motor and then the four wire connector plugs in to that??

Okay, I went out and got my manual from the car. Here are the four wires. Red/White= power lead (hot at all times) Black is ground and is fed to the motor from the trunk lid switch. Black/yellow is also ground fed from the trunk lid switch. Dark green is the lead to the "trunk ajar" light. I think I am missing "striker switches" ??

I am getting my info from page 8A-135-0 of the 1993 Cadillac Fleetwood service manual.

I am hoping someone can show me a picture of their pull down assembly with the four wires so I can see the part I am missing.

Thanks again

Tommy
