Default Towing with 2008 Escalade

Hello everyone! I am new to this group and hoping some of the XP can assist me. I recently decided to purchase a 2008 Escalade AWD with 6.2. AND I LOVE IT! one of the questions i have is towing. Specs say that it can tow up to 8000lbs and it has the factory tow package. I have a large travel trailer (2005 Jayce eagle 298bhs) and the weight of the TT should be within the limits of the Cadi. I also have a full WD hitch that was part of the purchase of the TT so it was designed for that load and at the time i had a 1999 Tahoe with 5.7. I just got around to hooking up the first time to get ready for the summer trips. We do not go long distances and it is all pretty much flat road (no hills). But when i put the TT on the hitch and hooked up WD it seemed like the suspension on the Cadi completely bottomed out. I do need to make a few tweaks to the WD because of the height of the ball. my 100% concern is safety. I was able to tow the trailer OK with a 2007 Silverado WT with a 4.8. But it got sketchy from time to time. So reaching out to the experts who are in the know and may have towed a larger TT with their Escalade. If i have the WD and hitch set up properly, will it tow safely or do i need to consider adding in the air bags to the coil spring? I want as safe as possible and sway is my biggest concern. Any assistance or tips would be greatly appreciated as the last thing i want is to be a news story of a trailer that got away from the tow vehicle.

Search for "autoride suspension". Or air ride suspension. The Cadillac is normally equipped with an air compressor behind the driver side rear tire. This can fail. Also, fuses can be blown, and finally the rear shocks have and auto-leveling system. If the suspension system is not working you need to fix. Check out video's on YOU TUBE for Tahoe, Escalade, Yukon air ride suspension. In your case 2008 Cadillac Escalade Air Ride suspension, video about 2008 Yukon or Tahoe suspension should also apply.

Look at your rear shocks, if you see two cables connected, the one at the top of the shock is the electrical connection and the one in the middle of the shock is the air connection. A failure of the air shocks sounds like your problem, its either the compressor or the shocks themselves. Some owners take out the air ride system and install standard shocks, if so the ones you have are bad.

Suggestion, if you are doing your own repairs, then buy a Cadillac FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL.

Good luck! You will find other info on the Forum, or YOU Tube or Google search.

You should find a detailed instruction manual for your 2008 Escalade to avoid typical towing mistakes. When towing a faulty vehicle, questions can arise at any stage. Therefore, knowing the basics and intricacies of the process will be helpful for beginners. True towing is easy if you know all the towing details on the 2008 Escalade. Once we wanted to tow a car, but as soon as the tractor-trailer moved, the hook jumped off and broke its rear window. This happened because the inexperienced towing car driver accelerated, and I was in the towing car and hit the brake because I, too, was inexperienced.
