Default Playing DVD on fron Nav Screen

I have a 2005 Escalade. Is there a way I can view a movie that is playing on my overhead DVD system on my in-dash Nav System screen? I know the video gets to the dash unit because when I turn on the radio/Nav, it shows what is playing on the DVD for a split second and goes to Nav screen.

If you have the parking brake on will the nav screen stay on dvd? If so I can help. On my 04 I had a dvd installed by the dealership. A ground wire coming from the nav unit is wired to the top of the parking brake. All you need to do is to permanently ground this wire.

I've got an '03 Escalade, and the dealer actually just finishedinstallingGM Part # 15800001 tonight. I haven't picked up ny truck yet, but I believe it's the latest version of the factory nav. They are detailing the car tomorrow, so I won't get it until tomorrow night.

I'm curious if any of you guys know if this is the model that allows DVD playback.

Yes there's stock systems that allow DVD/CD playback. I watched a DVD the other night in my car from the navagation screen, parked of course. I have the 6 CD/DVD changer option and the DVD navagaion system in my 07 STS. Just so you know, the changer is aseperate unit from the navagation DVD player. If you don't havesepeate DVD player and just have the Navagation DVD player, then no you cannot watch a DVD.

Well, I can't watch DVD's on mine.

I have a six disc changer and the Nav unit.

Mine is a Delphi unit, and it will not play DVD's in park, with the E brake on, or any way.

Well I guess you should have ASKED the dealer that question BEFORE you ordered the UNIT!

I have a 2002 DTS. On the face of the Nav screen is a button with a musical note. I press the button and hold for a few seconds, then a screen with a 10-key keyboard appears asking for diagnostic PIN codes. When I enter 1791, I'm able to play a DVD while driving. I have to repeat this procedure after each time I shut the car off.
