Default 91 Eldorado Steering Column

I just had my steering column taken apart because of a broken starter rod. After some great hassle with finding the part (you probably could guess Cadillac doesn't make it anymore...), we found it in a junk yard along with a whole nother steering column (same color as mine). We took the rod out of that one, put it in mine, and now my steering column isn't reinstalling properly (headlights turn on when I cut the wheel, horn blows when you touchor move the wheel, the wheel feels loose... etc.)So I guess what I'm asking for (I'm sry- I know it'll be abit of ahassle)... is a complete breakdown of the steering column. Please HELP!

Hate to say it but why not just change the column out to the one you got from the salvage yard.

The reason the horn goes off is because the turning motion completes the ground, so to me it seems like you need to pull the wheel again and make sure everything is aligned properly in the column. I can't see the column but often there are plastic insulators that slip over horn wires in particular to keep then from inadvertently grounding. There are springs in there to that need to go back right and you have to torque the nut holding the wheel properly. The column locking plate has to fit in properly. Just try doing it all again. Are you sure you have the rod in correctly to start with?

I beleive the rod is in correctly, the car starts just fine. But what you said makes sense. We'll just have to redo it. We have to pull it back apart anyways because the peice that make the key spring back after you start it, was broken too and we didnt know it. This has been hell.
