Cool Dashboard Air Flow/Vent Problem & CAT.CONV QUESTION

Air flow is not being regulated by the dial on the center console. The air blows from the "foot" section, pretty much at all time - even when we switch the airflow to top flow, the flow still comes from the foot section. Heater and AC work well. Two of the settings on the dial are not working;
  1. "Vent" - doesn't work, air doesn't flow to instrument panel outlets
  2. "Defog" - weak air flow to windshield
  3. "Defrost" - instead of directing most air flow to windshield, it directs most to feet.
We checked motors - they seem to be working. When we switch the above mentioned positions, motors don't work. What could be the cause? Should we change the air flow motors? or Climate Control ***** on the console?

ALSO - HOW DO WE KNOW WHEN TO CHANGE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER? SHOULD WE INVEST IN FACTORY ORIGINAL OR IS AFTER-MARKET OKAY?

Thanks!

What year? Are codes stored? Factory service manual is best. If you have printer for PC Alldata is another good choice.

Sounds like mode actuator. If car is under 50k miles should be under warranty
