Default 2000 De Ville DTS Digital dash is stuck in reverse

Hello everybody this is my first time posting so if I did it wrong or am duplicating another I am sorry about that.
I am having a problem with my transmission in my 2000 De Ville DTS. I was backing up the other day when I forgot my ID in the house so I put the car back in to park and turned the car off but my key would not come out so I tried to start the car but it would not start, I then realized that the cars digital dash is reading reverse but The transmission selector will allow me to move the transmission into park, neutral, drive etc... but I can’t start the car because the dash still reads reverse, since I can put the car in park and other gears it leads me to believe it to be a sensor/switch problem I already got another USED shifter assembly and this did not work (it could have been bad as well got it from a junk yard) I can’t find the park/neutral safety switch and the dealer could not give me a part number for it I did replaced the brake switch. If you guys could help in any way please please email me justin.l.angona@us.army.mil or Jangona24@gmail. This is my only car and I really do not want to spend all that money to tow it to a shop for some stupid switch that they are going to charge me a lot for. I am a mechanic within the army and I have checked everything that I thought it to be but just keep running into dead ends. Thanks
