I need to replace the electric window switch pack on the driver's door. Does the whole door panel have to come off or does the little panel the switches are in pull out?

Don't see the year of your Deville listed but generally the panel will lift out. The design is usually such that you push panel towards rear of car then lift up on the front. I usually use a wide flat blade screwdriver for this being careful to pry up the front a bit then push back and lift out.

Connectors also have locking tabs and you'll need a very tiny flat blade, like the size to repair spectacles, to disengage these. Don't force anything out.

 

Yeah, I realized that I forgot the year/model a few moments after posting. It's a 98 Deville Concours. I tried pulling from the back to no avail. I will try from the front this time.

I have the same car, it comes out pretty easy actually. Just replaced mine in the spring.

I went out today and tried to push the panel back and pull up but it didn't seem to want to come out. How hard should it be to pull up? It looked like it was still captured midway down the panel. I didn't want to break anything by pulling too hard.

I have found some come out easier than others. Try another switch. Once you get one out and see how itsmade you should be able to getyour problem switch out.

OMG that was easy! I looked at the passenger side on-seat control panel which had come loose in one of my kid's hands. A little more oomph on the screwdriver and "pop" it came out-took all of 45 secs to swap switches. This is one place manufacturing ease of assembly makes repair a snap-litterally! Thanks for the guidance. All windows working from the driver's console now.

Sorry I was busy this week and just see your pĂ´sts. Glad it came out and all windows are operational. Now you just saved yourself about $75 labour ! Feels good eh.
