Very Low Refrigerent/A/C Compressor Off
I get this message on my 1994 Cadillac Deville Concours. It has 192000 miles on it and still running strong. The last time the A/C was professionally serviced was at around 93k miles. I really don't know what is wrong. I bought one of those recharging kits and checked it. The pressure gauge said it was fine, but I put it a squirt anyway. So if the freon is fine, I'm really at a lost as to what is wrong. It worked last summer and has just magically stopped working. It gives me this message when I push the AUTO button to start the A/C. Any help would be great.

Check for codes, see FAQ section if you don't know how. You can clear codes with on-board or disconnect battery, clear codes and see if A/C works. ACM monitors A/C compressor cycle time, if it is too quick, will set code and dissable compressor.

If there are any codes in the system, it will not allow the compressor to engage, which is why it "stopped working". You may have a bad/failed pressure switch/sensor, or any other of many issues. Pull the codes(or get someone to help with that), and we'll see what we can do to help.

I have a 97 Deville and have got the same error message just two weeks ago to find out it was low on refrigerant for you to reset the compressor disconnect the positive battery terminal for a few second , after you connect it turn the AC on check to see if the compressor is engaging if it is then add refrigerant use the can with a guage so it will tell how much you need don t over fill that works for me .
