starting in 2nd gear
The traction control on my 95 concours is disabled. IM not sure if its broken or whatever but its not working, oh well its not a problem to me. It seems that the car automatically starts in 2nd gear to avoid peeling out. My buddy who i got the car off of showed me how to go into the pcm and change that but its been a while and forgot. Can anyone tell me how to program it so the car starts back in 1st gear.
thanks everybody!

RE: starting in 2nd gear
I may have this in the wrong place if so , feel free to move it.
I have a 2000 caddy deville, im having trouble with a light that
stays on, it reads, check engine soon, ive done all the necessary things
i know to do, checked water, oil, put gas cap on again, and still have the
light, im wondering if there is something ive missed, the dealer is 40 miles
away, would it be safe to drive this car there, with the light on...thanks...patticake

yes, iit is safe to drive, providing you pay attention to other gauges and don't ignore if something else is wrong. Service engine soon light can come for any reason it could be emissions related or even could come on due to high engine temp. i wouldn't panic but i would find the cause. diagnostics will usually tell you.

RE: starting in 2nd gear
the computer automatically disables 1st gear if there's an issue related to wheel bearing/wheel speed sensor or ABS. Why? Cause Cadillac made it so. I had a '97 Eldorado with a bad wheel bearing and it disables traction control and ABS. Gotta love it. Not having first gear is hard to deal with. haha
