Default over heating out of ideas

97 model with only 72000 miles I have replaced water pump, flushed the radiator, new hoses, replaced thremostat, fans operate properly in high and low speed. now i have removed the thermostat altogether. radiator is cool but motor is hot apears not to be circulating water from bottom radiator hose to top radiator hose. but i sprayed water through it and it blows out the top of the resevior. Please help. by the way no water in exhaust or oil. no signs of a blown head gaket. thanks in advance for any advise

Hey Rod67: Do you think it would be possible that you rad hose, upper or lower could be collapsing at higher engine rpm?? Deffinately sounds like a circulation problem. Does the rad core seem to be free of debris? ie bugs, fuzz, dirt. The next thing you could check is the timing , just to be sure it's not electrcal related. Hope this helps, Chow for now, Brougham1.

No timing adjustments are available on northstar engines.

Check the head bolts(tighten) to at least 45lb ft of torque.

If they move then the threads have pulled in the block.

By the symptoms you described that seems to be the most likely failure.

FYI: flushing a radiator rarely fixes a clogged radiator.
Rodding out or replacing is the only way i know to ensure the core is flowing properly.

i'll bet its the head bolts.
If the radiator is clear through and you've checked the basics this is a somewhat common problem for the 96-99 northstar.
