Northstar Ticking Sound When Accelerating
Hi, I was referred to by the Buick forums since the Northstar engine is more popular here. I drive a 2006 Buick Lucerne with the 4.6L Northstar engine 105k miles.
Issue: Whenever I accelerate, I hear a rapid ticking noise that isn't present at idle. It does not increase or decrease with engine RPM. It isn't present within the first 5 minutes of driving. This only happens when I accelerate, when I let go of the gas, the ticking fades away and stops. It progressively gets louder the longer I drive.
Additional Info: I've changed my oil recently, but it has done this before my oil change. I'm putting in 93 octane fuel in my car constantly. I do not experience a loss of power or anything as a result of the annoying noise. I have driven the car the same as always, never abusing it or revving too frequently. The noise is not present at idle when I accelerate.
