Default GM Bulletin 01-08-49-004 Intermittent/Inoperative analog instrument panel I/P Cluster

I have a 2001 Cadillac Deville DHS that I dearly love. Anyway, I've been having some problems with the DIC and was advised by JustAnswer.com that it may be related to GM Bulletin 01-08-49-004 Intermittent/Inoperative analog instrument panel I/P Cluster and that I should have this replaced. When I found out that it cost $575 to replace I thought there may be a better way. Anyway to make a long story short; All I did was to re-boot my onboard computer system by removing the positive battery cable for 5 to 10 minutes and then hook it back up. Now everything is working as it should. I don't know for how long but the point is that it is working properly.

that is a standard procedure on any electrical issues BEFORE one starts thinking R&R parts.

good move.

you may also have grounding issues that often tend to create such issues and are often intermittent

good move indeed but I do not recommend disconnecting the positive cable without first removing the negative cable. very important

Oh, why do you say to first remove the negative cable before removing the positive one? What is the danger? Thx, Dan.
