gear selector indicator fault code

gear selector indicator fault code
Yesterday while driving in the snow and ice I received a gear selector indicator fault code. At the next light I moved the selector to the neutral position and back to drive. The fault was gone. Several days ago I was stuck in a snow/ice situation and needed to go back and forth a bit to get out. Yes I did allow the trans to stop between each front / back movement. That was last week and I didn't see the fault code until yesterday.
I know that sometimes my Jag will throw codes in the extreme cold climate situations or a sensor connection gets damp. Any suggestions or ideas why the car threw a code?

RE: gear selector indicator fault code
Mine does this from time to time too,. I noticed it last when I was parked on a grade and tried to reverse out. I think it is P1527. The sensor is picking up an error in where the transmission is and where the gear selector is. If they don't match it codes. Remember that the gear selector is elctronic not mechanical so if your shifter is not properly in place it could code. Imo it is nothing to worry about unless it becomes chronic. My mechanic said the same thing.
