Front Suspension Rattle

Front Suspension Rattle
Back in January 06 I asked any body out there if they were experiencing a rattle in their front suspension. Nobody ever responded. The car now has 26,000 miles on it. I finally got fed up with the noise and took it to the local Cadillac dealer. The suspension technician took a ride with me and immediatley diagnosed it as a defective intermediate steering shaft. The parts were ordered and I got the it repaired yesterday. It is amazing how diiferent the care handles a how solid and quiet it is. The steering is very responsive and tight. They said it was a common problem with the Sevilles and Escalades and not so much with the Deville.
The service at the dealership was outstanding.

RE: Front Suspension Rattle
Mine is a 2001. If your front suspension is noisy at slow speeds on side streets like mine was, Have it checked out. It also can be felt in the steering wheel. Even on a smooth blacktop road if the is any kind of washboard type irregularities on road it would make the rattle sound. Hope this helps.

My dealer paid for it. My DeVille only had 25,000 miles on it when I took it in. It started rattling at about 14,000 miles. I believe they called it a courtesy repair due to the low mileage and well maintained condition.
My recipt shows n/c so I can't even give you a guess. It sure is solid a quiet now.
Good luck.

RE: Front Suspension Rattle
I have put 2,000 miles on it since 6-29-06. It is still quiet. I don't have a single rattle in that car.
As far a redesign of the part I don't know. My 2002 Bonneville SLE was doing the same thing but I turned it in on an early lease termination program. GM must have a problem with the ISS. They used to grease them but now they replace it. Maybe FLCADDYTECH can answer the redesign of the ISS. He's the man to ask. If you do get it repaired you won't believe the difference it makes.
