I realize there are some threads devoted to the hood release handle but I don't believe my problem has been addressed. Like a darn fool I mistakenly pushed on the release handle with my foot instead of the emergency brake and in the process broke the handle. Fortunately the release mechanism still works but the handle flops loose and needs to be replaced. I removed the two screws on the plate but the handle mechanism does not pull away even though I have tried prying with a flat screw driver, with no results. Any help appreciated.
