1st time owner 2000 Deville DHS question
Greetings all. Last week I purchased my first Cadillac (2000 Deville DHS, 48000 miles in cherry condition). Maybe I am not just accustomed to driving in a car (been driving a minivan for 7 years) but I noticed something. Whenever I drive the car on the highway and get up over 60MPH, the car seems to have a little shake to it that seems to come from the rear of the car. I bought the car off of a used car lot a good friend of mine owns, so I am confident that the car was not in any accidents. I also showed the car to a buddy of mine who owns an autobody shop and he assured me that the paint was original all around. I am going to put new tires and have an alignment done next week. As I just typed that I am wondering if the same type of tires are on the car all around as opposed to a mismatch. However, I am hoping that the alignment and new tires will correct this problem. If not, anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I am also going to have the shocks and springs looked at, just in case. Looking forward to reading the forums and any help or suggestions of any kind, greatly appreciated.

Hi Mark.
Congrats. I'm a new caddy owner too. Recently bought a 2004 base Deville w/25,000 miles.
You didn't mentioned what brand of tires are currently on there, or the shape they're in.
For what its worth, mine areMichelins and it has a pretty smooth ride.
Enjoy your new caddy.

RE: 1st time owner 2000 Deville DHS question
I checked the back tires since my last post and they are Michelin GT tires in decent condition.Could these possibly be the original tires? Again, the car only has 48,000 on it. I would not say that they are at a point where they have to be replaced, but me personally, I would probably replace them (which I am doing next week). Any suggestions on whether to go with a touring tire vs a high performance?

I think you are on the right track, if I were going to make a bet it would be that tires and front and rear allignment will do the trick.
By high performance are you talking about "z"rated tires? If you are going to be driving hard or at speeds over 100 then yes get the z rated tire, otherwise save your money get a lower rated tire which will last almost twice as long and cost less to begin with IMO.

I am looking at the Goodyear Assurance TripleTred (All-Season). It gets very high marks across the board on TireRack.com especially in ice and snow. I live in Norther New Jersey so we get a little of everything weather wise and only drive about 15-20 miles daily so I think this could be a great choice.

I have a friend in PA who has those tires, and he has no complaints. If you buy from tirerack make sure you have the right guy balance and mount them.
Good luck with the new rubber.
