Default CTS-V [!traction, Competition Mode]

I know what these modes do on the C5/C6 corvettes. Since I seem to get the same onscreen warnings in either mode (STABILITY CONTROL), what do they mean on the CTS-V?

Anyone?

When I press my Active Handling button, and hold it down for 5 seconds in the Corvette, I get the "Competition Mode" on the DIC. In the Vette, it allows wheelspin so you can try to optimize your launch and get lower ET's. I am guessing this is the same in the CTS-V. Is this what you mean?

Oh that's what I mean. I am fully aware of the differences between the two modes on a vette -- no question. I expected them to be the same differences on the V, but they don't seem to be. I get the same cautionary statement on the infotainment center in either mode -- STABILITY CONTROL. It seems the car handles about the same in either mode as well. That's why I'm asking.

When autocrossing last Saturday I was able to get in a number of runs so I could play with all three settings (including traction control ON). I found that mode to be the most irritating in that it caught me and slowed me down everytime I put my foot in it so that mode didn't last long.

With traction off, I felt more attached to the road and though the wheels would spin a bit more, I could modulate the gas and steering and shorten my lap times a little better. In Competition Mode I saw barely more open driving, but still saw that flashing caution across my 7 inch screen -- very distracting.

In a vette there is no infotainment center but a real feeling that you have complete control over the car in Competition Mode. I wonder if I really have that on the V, but the cautionary statement is left over in GM's BCM code?

So that's where my questons stem from. What's the diff?
